I live locally so I haven’t stayed in the hotel. However, I have recently had both lunch and a cream tea there. The garden is breathtaking, especially at this time of year. It deserves to be much better known. I took a visiting relative for lunch over the school Easter holidays and was surprised to find we were the only people in the restaurant. We had drinks first in the lovely new bar area. The food was delicious: simple, fresh and local.

My husband and I are keen walkers and love the walk to the Meudon along the coastal path from Maenporth beach (east) or Mawnan Church (west). Dog loving visitors please note that unlike the other beaches in the area, the Meudon’s beach Bream Cove doesn’t have a dog ban in the summer.

On Bank Holiday Monday we asked the hotel if we could park our car in their car park so we could have a walk and return for a cream tea. The garden was looking even more stunning than on our previous visit. The cream tea was generous, delicious and great value.

Our little dog was delighted to be offered a bowl of water and a biscuit. As it had started to rain we sat in the newly refurbished bridge area, which has stunning views over the garden and out to sea. We will certainly be returning. I cannot understand why the garden is not much better known and the restaurant isn’t packed; the hotel is one of Cornwall’s hidden gems.

The hotel is the perfect place for a wedding or another special occasion. It’s also very handy for walkers to stop off for refreshments. Highly recommended!
