I had been eyeing up the Meudon Hotel for several weeks, initially looking for a place to stay near Helford Passage. My husband and I wanted to escape the referendum news and other pressures. Rita answered the phone to my last moment enquiry and within an hour we were on the road to Cornwall.
We received such a warm welcome from Rita when we arrived, it was like she was greeting old friends but not too personal. She was brimming with enthusiasm as she showed us our very lovely Valley Room. The views from the windows were outstanding looking out onto lush immaculate tropical gardens with sea views and interesting garden features. The room was perfect, restful, clean, beautifully situated and well maintained.
During the evening we explored the winding path to to beach – Bream Cove, walking through a glade of Gunnera plants, numerous ferns and tropical trees and scented flowers. We walked back via a different path and sat on a bench in a turret listening to the birds sing. Memorable.
Back in the hotel we ordered two Cornish Gin and Tonics with cucumber, both beautifully presented in glasses as big as fish bowls. The best G & T ever! Memorable. The beds were incredibly comfortable and the breakfast delicious.
Meudon is special, the staff clearly love the place and this shone through in every dimension of our short visit. We loved it and will be returning. Thank you. I repeat Meudon is special.
